Background
Children’s Benevolence Foundation was born out of the personal adversity and resilience of its founder, Mama Prossy. Growing up as an orphan in Matale Village, Masaka, she experienced the devastating impact of the 1990s AIDS epidemic which claimed her parents and separated her from her siblings.
Unable to afford school, she worked during holidays to pay tuition. After O-Level, she refused sexual exploitation by a benefactor in exchange for school fees, ending her formal education but inspiring a lifelong mission. While working as a school secretary and bursar at age 18, she became guardian to her siblings. Founded in 2024, the Foundation supports children facing mental health and psychological challenges while protecting vulnerable children from abuse and exploitation.
Mission
To transform the pain of abandonment into a promise of protection by providing mental health support and advocacy for children and youth, ensuring no child has to trade their dignity for an education or suffer in silence.
